When you both have Kilos
- Open your workout and tap Working Out with Friends. Set a username if Kilos asks you for one.
- Choose Show My Code. Your friend opens Working Out with Friends → Scan a Friend's Code in their own app and scans the QR code.
- Alternatively, use Find by Username to find your friend and send an invite. They accept the invite in Kilos.
- Check the people and turn order, then log your sets as you train. Each person has their own workout record.
The shared session shows who is next and each person's rest. If you need a different order, the host can use Reorder; another participant can suggest an order for the host to approve.
When only one of you has the app
Open Working Out with Friends and choose Add a Friend Without Kilos. Add them as a guest and record their sets from your phone. Their entries belong to the guest, rather than being added to your own lifting history.
For example, if you bench 70 kg and your friend benches 50 kg, record each set for the person who performed it. The shared turn order keeps you together while the weights and reps remain separate.
A guest does not need to install Kilos or create an account just to have you log their sets. This also works when your friend prefers to leave their phone in the locker.
One session, separate training records
- Your numbers stay yours. Each person logs their own weights and reps. A training partner's set does not become your personal record.
- Your rest is individual. The group takes turns while each person has their own rest timer.
- Your workout stays under your control. A partner's suggested changes appear for you to review before they change your workout.
- History follows the lifter. Your finished workout goes into your history, so you can compare it with your earlier sessions.
You do not have to use the AI coach or buy Pro to train together. Logging, templates, exercise charts and the friend workout features are part of the free workout tracker.
What is shared, and when you need a connection
People in the shared workout can see that session's sets. Joining a workout does not by itself give them access to your entire history. Your profile and finished-workout visibility settings still control what you publish outside the session.
Live updates between phones need a connection. Kilos shows a reconnecting state if the connection drops and keeps the work you log to send when you are connected again. If another person's turn or set looks stale, check the connection before relying on the shared view.
You can leave the shared workout from its people screen. Report and block controls are available from a person's profile or their row in the workout. See support for the account and privacy controls.
Can I bring my previous workouts first?
Yes. You can import from Strong or import from Hevy before your first session together. The import asks who can see those historical workouts, separately from joining a live session.
Questions
Can I log sets for a friend who does not have the app?
Yes. In your workout, open Working Out with Friends and choose Add a Friend Without Kilos. Add your friend as a guest and log their sets on your phone. They do not need to install Kilos or create an account. Their sets stay apart from your own history, and when the workout ends you can send them a link to it; it becomes theirs when they install Kilos.
Do we need Kilos Pro to train together?
No. Training together, including logging for a guest, is free. Kilos Pro is the AI coach, and you do not need it for any of this.
